The street of Dalem Kaum has become very synonymous of becoming the 'red light' district of Bandung. The decision to improve the condition of Dalem Kaum through adaptive re-use of the existing building is being seen as the most appropriate and feasible way to facilitate its existence within the new Creative Laboratory District of Bandung. By maintaining and face-lifting almost all building structures along the street, it is hoped that the new developed stretch of Dalem Kaum will synergize and compliment the programming and urban strategies of the surrounding area of Jalan Asia-Afrika and Alun-Alun Bandung, strengthening the historical, commercial and economical value of the area.

Bioskop Dian and Cinema Paradiso
cinema.bdg is a place making programming strategy to develop the area of Jalan Asia Afrika/ alun-alun as the Creative Laboratory District for Bandung. The strategy consists of a new area that will house Bandung Film Studio, Bandung Film Museum and a new alternative cinema/ film workshop dedicated to the development of the film industry for Indonesia. Paying homage to one of the greatest film of all time by Giuseppe Tornatore - Cinema Paradiso, this proposal also respond to the need of Bandung city and its creative community for a proper place for their creative activities to take place. The now defunct Bioskop Dian, situated right across the site, will be revitalized by having these new programs to re-brand and re-develop the area, which is currently being left underutilized, even it is located at one of the prime area of Bandung.

Euralille: Centre International d’Affaires Lille
Lille, a formerly significant city, was leading a slightly melancholy existence. Once a mining and textile town, it had fallen into hard times. But the tunnel between England and the continent and the TGV network will transform Lille as if by magic and make it important in a completely synthetic way.

(Eko Prawoto, Agustus 2008)

Industri Dalam - Measuring Accessibility Through Urban Parameters and Space Syntax Analysis
In creating a robust neighborhood, both empirical and parametric based behavioral analyses were conducted to improve the connectivity, networks and configurations of built forms of the proposal. By introducing strong paths as the primary circulation route, connecting dwelling clusters, nodes and public spaces within the site have proved to increase the quality of the site’s value of integration and connectivity
The modified connectivity route allows for the implementation of our concept in integrating modern yet regionalist dwelling system that will encourage and allow the spirit of communality or ‘paguyuban’. A clear direction in structuring the connectivity of the area helps in creating a self-sustaining compact neighborhood, and this design approach is a response from the locality of the site itself.
*Urban Parameters Analysis by Chairul Maulidi, with empirical analysis by Reagen Mulia, Chichi Asda and Hafiz Amirrol, ITB 2009
