Dalem Kaum: Adaptive Re-Use and Face Lift

The street of Dalem Kaum has become very synonymous of becoming the 'red light' district of Bandung. The decision to improve the condition of Dalem Kaum through adaptive re-use of the existing building is being seen as the most appropriate and feasible way to facilitate its existence within the new Creative Laboratory District of Bandung. By maintaining and face-lifting almost all building structures along the street, it is hoped that the new developed stretch of Dalem Kaum will synergize and compliment the programming and urban strategies of the surrounding area of Jalan Asia-Afrika and Alun-Alun Bandung, strengthening the historical, commercial and economical value of the area.

Before, during, or after any events of disaster, systematic disaster management is very important  in managing emergency and post-emergency situation. One way of disaster management is to adopt the role of civil society to create awareness, knowledge and thus lead to direct involvement in disaster risk management efforts.
